Facts for Life offers an extensive science-based portfolio of sessions and workshops, each one facilitated by a scientific expert and comprising a combination of presentation, discussion and hands-on activities. Our core programmes directly reinforce classroom learning, raising awareness and understanding of current health issues, bioethics and bioscience career options. Students are actively encouraged to adopt an open, creative and independent mindset.

HEALTH AWARENESS

pixabay_smokeUsually delivered in 30-60 minute sessions, our creative and interactive health awareness modules empower students to take responsibility for their own bodies and understand the short and long-term implications of positive and negative life choices. Presentations use medical facts and scientific examples to inform and stimulate discussion, and hands-on activities reinforce key messages.

BIOETHICS

pixabay_babyFacts for Life act as facilitators for six bioethics modules, which can be run as independent sessions or consecutively as a full-day workshop. Focus is on considering and discussing the ethics of modern bioscience and the impact it has on our lives. The sessions use current headlines and case studies coupled with games and activities to explain, investigate and debate modern genetic concepts and evaluate the associated costs and benefits. Students are encouraged to express their opinions, share personal stories and consider the attitudes and opinions of others in a supportive and encouraging environment.

HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS

pixabay_teamworkEngaging, educational, and entertaining, our innovative workshops aim to inspire the scientist in students. Be it increasing awareness of scientific careers, preparing students to make informed, thoughtful life choices or simply reinforcing classroom learning, we give students the opportunity to work together to learn through ‘doing’.
