My sessions are designed to reinforce and enhance classroom learning, whilst at the same time inspiring confidence and developing a questioning mindset to explore beyond the curriculum. I specialise in deconstructing mathematical and scientific concepts and teaching them in a creative, engaging and memorable manner, which establishes solid foundations on which to build knowledge and confidence. Every lesson I give is bespoke, and tailored to age, ability and learning style.

I am approachable and supportive with a pragmatic tutoring style, combining open discussion with interactive learning using online and personal resources. I employ a wide range of flexible and adaptive strategies to tutor students of all learning styles and individual needs. Time allowing, I prefer to take a graduated approach which enables my students to learn from first principles and subsequently develop a greater depth of knowledge. This in turn inspires confidence in applying the subject matter both in and out of the classroom. In preparation for exams I work with my students to organise, summarise, connect and apply their knowledge using flash cards, mind maps and other synoptic methods. I coach them to appreciate assessment criteria by identifying critical words within exam questions, interpreting mark schemes and, where appropriate, by using key words and phrases to answer extended questions. I tutor to all UK exam board specifications, and I am extremely proud to have a 100% pass rate.

Linda MacCallum

I cover the curriculums set by UK exam boards for the following subjects:

GCSE: Maths, Combined Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics

A-Level: Biology

In February 2020, I achieved a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET).
